Blue Ranger (2022) is the third piece of its type in my series for vibraphone solo and percussion quartet, following Green Ranger (2018) and White Ranger (2019). Paying homage to the 1990s hit show the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, this chamber work seeks to embody the spirit of the blue ranger, who was really the brains behind the operation most of the time. My goal was to utilize elements of ‘math rock’, blues, and of course, the exciting spirit of the power rangers themes. Blue Ranger was commissioned by the University of Kentucky Percussion Society.
