Vacillating Compass of Indigo/Teal

To vacillate is to waver in mind or action, or be irresolute between multiple opinions or things. While writing the piece over several months, I often found myself bouncing between multiple ideas and concepts. Despite seemingly vague relationships at times, these musical ideas nevertheless came from the same creative headspace, and reflect where I was at in life and in music. Ultimately, the strongest connective tissue that provided a musical compass for the work, unifying melodies, harmonies, and timbres, are the colors indigo and teal. Vacillating Compass of Indigo/Teal was commissioned by the University of Oklahoma Percussion Studio.
